World Bosai Forum 2017

This November, Tohoku University, in partnership with the City of Sendai, the International Disaster and Risk Conference (IDRC) in Davos, Switzerland and the Japan Science and Technology Agency will host the inaugural World Bosai Forum/ International Disaster Risk Conference.

As a follow up to the Third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in 2015, Japan is committed to promoting DRR measures domestically, as well as encouraging international cooperation through the Sendai Framework.

To that end, the World Bosai Forum will be held every two years to find practical solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction and mitigation. It will bring together international experts from government, academia and the private sector. As a venue, Sendai City is uniquely placed to share experiences and lessons from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

Access to the main lectures and sessions will be restricted to paid registrants, but many side events and discussions will be free and open to the general public. Closed captions in Japanese and English will be provided at main sessions. Please check the website for details.
