The Graduate School of Engineering at Tohoku University is recruiting for the following position.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved in teaching in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, and the Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering, School of Engineering, as well as in research and education at the Supercritical Fluid Research Center / System Development Division.

Specifically, the candidate will conduct research on the fundamental physical properties of various fluids, including high-pressure fluids and novel solvents, and on the development of next-generation reaction and separation processes using these solvents and fluids. The candidate is expected to lead the interdisciplinary and integrated research promoted by the center.

Qualifications

Candidates must:

• hold a doctoral degree;
• be highly motivated to engage in teaching and research involving students in the Department of Chemistry and Bioengineering, School of Engineering, and the Graduate School of Engineering;
• be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students;
• be capable of conducting research and teaching in fields related to chemical engineering, including thermodynamics, fluid properties, transport phenomena, and separation engineering; and
• be capable of leading international collaborative research.
