Workshop: Beyond the Edge of Research

This December, the Tohoku Forum for Creativity and the Lorentz Center in the Netherlands will hold a joint workshop at Tohoku University, to introduce their programmes and encourage researchers to take advantage of the available resources and support.

The Tohoku Forum for Creativity (TFC) is an international visitor research institute set up to facilitate collaborative research. Since 2013, it has hosted global events such as "Ageing Science: from Molecules to Society" and "Nanostructured Magnetic Materials: Challenges for Next-Generation Materials."

At this workshop, Vice Director Dr. Yoshiaki Maeda will speak in Japanese on the TFC's mission and activities.

The Lorentz Center is based in Leiden, and provides international workshops in all scientific disciplines. Workshops can be proposed and organised by any researcher in any field, at any professional level and from any country. Week-long discussions held at the Lorentz Center have produced many successful collaborations over the years.

Its director, Dr. Arjen Doelman, will speak in English on "Stimulating open scientific interactions: the Lorentz Center approach."

The one-day workshop is free and open to all students and staff. Researchers looking to expand their international network, or international collaboration opportunities, are especially encouraged to take part. Registration is not required.
