Tohoku University's Formula Team has taken first prize for the lightest vehicle at the 2015 Student Formula Japan, held last month at Ecopa Stadium in Shizuoka.
The team also placed third in the Electric Vehicle (EV) class.

The contest, organized annually by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE), follows the same regulations used in Formula SAE - a student design competition held in seven countries.
This year's Student Formula Japan contest took place from September 1 - 5, and included contestants from 8 countries, as well as local students from around the country.
