Tohoku University Hosts HeKKSaGOn Vice Presidents' Meeting

On April 16, Tohoku University hosted a HeKKSaGOn Vice Presidents' Meeting online.

The vice presidents and directors of the six member universities discussed the outline and contents of the upcoming 8th HeKKSaGOn Presidents' Conference, which will be hosted by Tohoku University on September 9 and 10 this year. The conference, which will be held entirely online, will feature the theme, "How universities can contribute to building healthy, safe and resilient societies."

The participants also agreed that a student workshop and a virtual area for exchanges among early-career researchers will be set up. And for the first time, some of the presentations by the six university presidents will be made public and available for general access.

HeKKSaGOn is a bilateral university network consisting of six leading institutions, with three members each from Japan and Germany. They are: Tohoku University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Heidelberg University, University of Göttingen and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Established in 2010, the six member universities are actively engaged in exchanges and joint research projects; and a Presidents' Conference is held alternately in Japan and Germany once every 18 months.
