On December 18th, 2014, Executive Vice President Ueki attended the 3rd RENKEI Annual Meeting held at Liverpool University in the U.K.
Attended by approximately 30 representatives from each of the member universities in both Japan and the U.K., the attendees heard presentations on the RENKEI activities undertaken between 2013 and 2014, and discussed proposed new workshops for 2015 onward.
As part of these presentations, EVP Ueki reported on the summer school held by Tohoku University and the University of Southampton in September 2014 at Tohoku University (coordinated by Prof. Toshihiko Nakata of the School of Engineering). Following this, Pro Vice Chancellor Marc Spearing from the University of Southampton reported on the progress of the preparations for the follow-up winter school, to be held at the University of Southampton in March 2015.

- Started in 2012, it encourages collaborative research, knowledge transfers, the nurturing the research leaders and other human resources, and increased university-industry ties.
- Secretariat is within the British Council.
- Representative's Meeting consists of two members from each country, and EVP Ueki is one of these members
