Entrance Ceremony for Spring 2022 to be Held on April 6

To welcome new students to the Tohoku University family, the 2022 Entrance Ceremony will be held in-person on April 6 at Kamei Arena.

There will be two short ceremonies on that day - one for all first year undergraduates, and the other for first year graduate students.

Only students directly involved in the two ceremonies will be allowed into the arena. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure safe physical distancing at the ceremony, family and friends may not attend, but are encouraged to watch the live broadcast from home instead.

The university also asks that family and friends refrain from waiting around the arena or in the adjacent Tomizawa Park.

Date: April 6, 2022 (Wednesday)
All students must bring their ID cards.

  • - For first year graduate students: 9:30 - 9:55 a.m.

(Doors will open at 10:20 a.m., please be seated no later than 11:20 a.m.)

There is no public parking in the area on that day so please take public transport. The nearest subway station is Tomizawa.

Students participating in the ceremonies should be appropriately dressed and must adhere to the university's infection prevention measures (pdf). These include wearing a mask and maintaining physical distance from other people. Students who are unwell on the day or have a fever should stay home and watch the ceremony online.

As with all best-laid plans, these might change depending on the pandemic situation in Miyagi Prefecture and Sendai City, so please be prepared for updates closer to the time and check the university's websites regularly.
