Three times a year the Kawatabi Seminar Center holds overnight field trips for students and staff from all faculties. The center is in the country side in Osaki City, and houses the Graduate School of Agricultural Science Field Center. Nearby is the primeval forest of Kurikoma and popular tourist spot, Naruko spa.
The autumn field trip was held on the weekend of October 25, with 22 students and faculty members taking part. Participants strolled through the surrounding woods with Assistant Professor Yu Fukasawa from the Graduate School of Agricultural Science providing commentary on the forest, and identifying mushroom types.
