The Tozai subway line, which opens on December 6, will have subway stops running through Tohoku University's Kawauchi and Aobayama Campuses.
Bus stops have been re-organized to coincide with the addition of subway stops, and routes that affect university commutes are listed below. New subway and bus timetables have also been announced.

- The names of the bus stops below have changed as follows:

Johokagaku Kenkyuka Mae --> Aobayama Eki
Johokagaku Kenkyuka Nishi --> Saigai Kagaku Kokusai Kenkyujo Mae
Kawauchi Yubinkyoku Mae --> Kawauchi Eki
Nogakubu Mae --> Kamitsugi Nichome/Nogakubu Mae
