Earthquake Technology Expo

The International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) at Tohoku University will be moderating a panel session at the 2018 Earthquake Technology Expo to be held in Sendai at the end of August.

The panel will feature experts from across Asia, representing different disciplines. They include an activist from Indonesia, a researcher from the Philippines and a journalist from Thailand. The panel will discuss the latest disaster risk reduction solutions and share from their own experiences.

Prior to the session, panel members will visit areas along the Tohoku coast impacted by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunamis, and will give their thoughts and perspectives on the current recovery efforts there.

This event is supported by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and will be held in English with Japanese translation. Attendance is free and open to anyone interested, but registration is required.

There will be a launch event for the second World Bosai Forum from 4:30 - 5p.m.
Public parking in the area is extremely limited so please use public transport.
