The successful candidate will conduct research and teaching in French language and literature. Primary teaching responsibilities include:

Graduate School

• French Literature Research Seminar
• Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies courses
• Thesis supervision
• Other related courses and duties

Undergraduate

• French Literature Seminar
• French Language Teaching Methods
• Basic French Literature Reading
• University-wide Basic French courses
• Graduation thesis supervision

Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:

• Be a native speaker of French or have an equivalent level of French proficiency.
• Hold a doctoral degree at the time of appointment.
• Have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to independently carry out duties at Tohoku University and an understanding of the Japanese university system.
• Have an understanding of varieties of French and cultures across the Francophone world.
• Be able to contribute to various university projects.
• Have sufficient teaching experience at a university or equivalent institution.
