Outline The world we live in is becoming increasingly global with societies made up of various cultures living together and interacting on a daily basis. There are a variety of issues and opportunities that arise when one decides to live outside their own culture. Learning how to understand and accept cultural differences is an increasingly valuable skill that will serve you both on a professional and personal basis.
Objectives
  • To consider the nature of intercultural communication.
  • To develop both intellectual and behavioral skills to help you to deal with different situations and issues encountered when working and studying internationally.

  • Introduction to cross-cultural concepts.
  • Hofstede and Trompenaar's cultural dimensions.
  • Non-verbal communication. Body language.
  • Working group on multicultural teams.
  • Study abroad: comparison of different higher education systems.
  • Concept of culture shock and the different stages.
  • Tips for enabling international mobility.
