Recruitment Notice: Professor (Institute of Development, Aging, and Cancer)

The Institute of Development, Aging, and Cancer (IDAC) at Tohoku University is recruiting for the following position.

Job Description

The Institute seeks researchers who will engage in aging biology and aging medicine from a broad perspective, with the aim of overcoming a wide range of age-related diseases. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate actively in strengthening the Institute's role as a hub for international joint research.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree.

Applicants should submit the following set of documents in English or Japanese:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Research Achievements
  3. Research Statement: Describe your past and current research in a maximum of 2 pages. Explain why your results and findings are significant. Graphic abstracts and tables are also acceptable.
  4. Future Research and Teaching Plan at IDAC: Describe your vision, long-term research plans, and goals, and explain how they will benefit IDAC. Outline your teaching philosophy and how your mentoring will support students and early-career researchers at IDAC. The statement should not exceed 2 pages in total.
  5. PDF Files of Major Publications: Up to 10 publications, along with a summary of the three most important publications you would like to highlight (up to 400 words for each).
  6. Contact Information: Names, affiliations, phone numbers, and email addresses of three references. We may contact them for letters of recommendation during the review process.

When sending the required documents,please convert each file into PDF format and include the document type and applicant's name in the file name (e.g., 1_CV_KAREIKEN_TARO). Combine all documents into a single ZIP file and submit it by email. The ZIP file name and email subject should be formatted as IDAC_Faculty_Application_ApplicantName. The maximum attachment size is 25 MB. If the file size exceeds this limit, contact the Institute for further instructions.

The Institute of Development, Aging, and Cancer (IDAC) is dedicated to elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of aging, from birth through development, maturity, old age, and death. By applying research findings, the Institute aims to overcome age-related brain and neurological diseases such as dementia, as well as refractory cancers, and to develop advanced methods for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and innovative medical devices.

Additionally, as a core research center for aging medicine, the Institute seeks to lead pioneering international collaborative research and establish itself as a world-leading research hub.
